Our Economy
In April 2026, I initiated a project to understand the economy of Fauquier County. Using data from the Commissioner of Revenue, IRS, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Reserve and Bureau of Economic Analysis, I was able to prepare a point of view. Economic data is not exact and some data about our economy is not available nor transparent (parts of our horse industry and farms in the county) as it is protected by law to not disclose. Fauquier County has always been known for our rural character and landscapes. But our economy also touches every part of our daily life. Where we work, where we buy groceries, who we call to fix the roof, where we go for an ice cream cone.
Understanding how our economy performs matters to every citizen. Whether you run a farm, commute to Northern Virginia, run a small business, or are just trying to make ends meet.
